Live Music Event with Coda, Siar and local musicians in aid of Croí
Fundraiser for Croí & an External Defibrillator in Newport
Join us for an evening of music featuring Coda, Siar and local musicians.
Coda are a Mayo based group of seven singers and musicians who have developed their own unique and richly-harmonised approach to vocal performance from diverse vocal and instrumental backgrounds, including folk, trad, blues, rock and pop music.
Coda comprises Alan Drumm and Brian Lennon, Newport along with Declan Askin, Conall Ó Domhnaill, Mike Cannon, Steve Bryant and Leonard Kelly.
Siar are one of two teenage traditional music groups from Co Mayo who will be taking part in the Siansa Gael Linn 2019 final in the National Concert Hall on Sunday, April 7.
Cillian McNeela and Matthew Dillane both from Newport are members of Siar along with Patrick Cafferkey (Achill), Deirdre Joyce (Castlebar), Conor Cafferkey (Achill), Catherine Joyce (Castlebar), Kyle Hampson (Lahardane) and Caoilte Ó Cuanaigh (Achill).
Siansa is one of the country’s most prestigious competitions for young traditional Irish music and singing groups. Organised by Gael Linn with support from RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta and Irish Music Magazine, Siansa provides a platform for talented teenage groups who aim to emulate groups such as Téada, Altan, Danú etc. While Siansa is essentially a competition, the groups are helped and encouraged along the way by highly regarded traditional musicians. The event is run entirely through the medium of Irish.
Other musicians on the night belong to Cuilmore and Derrada CCE.
Tickets will be on sale locally and you can pay on the night.
The master of ceremonies ( MC) for the evening is Fr Tod Nolan.
The event is been organised by Davy in appreciation of the support he received from Croí.
